Terms of Service

These are the rules of the road for using Take 139 and IMAGO. We've tried to keep them human and short. By taking an assessment, buying a code, or signing into a dashboard, you are agreeing to what's below.

Section One

What Take 139 and IMAGO are — and what they're not

Take 139 and IMAGO are pastoral diagnostic tools. They are designed to help individuals and couples name patterns in their inner life and their relationship that may otherwise go unnamed. They are written by a senior pastor with seminary training in theology and counseling, and they draw on attachment theory, family systems work, biblical counseling, and a Christian theological frame.

They are not clinical assessments. They are not psychiatric diagnoses. They are not therapy. They are not a substitute for working with a licensed mental-health professional, a pastoral counselor, or a physician if you are facing serious distress. If you are in crisis — suicidal, in danger, or unsafe — please call 988 (in the US) or your local emergency number and contact a qualified professional. Take 139 cannot help with that, and was never designed to.

Plain language

If reading your report makes something hard surface, please bring it to a counselor, a pastor, or a trusted friend. The report can be a starting place for that conversation. It is not the whole conversation.

Section Two

Who can use the service

You must be at least 16 years old to take an assessment. By using Take 139 or IMAGO, you confirm that you are 16 or older and that the information you provide is your own.

Couples Reports are designed for two adults who have both chosen to participate. Do not submit an assessment on behalf of someone else without their consent.

Section Three

What you pay for, and what you get

Pricing is listed on the pricing page and at checkout. At the time these terms were last updated:

All prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe. Once payment clears, your access code is delivered by email and is yours to use at any time.

Section Four

Refund policy

Take 139 and IMAGO are pastoral diagnostics. The report is delivered as soon as you complete the assessment — there is no way for us to "take back" what you've already read. For that reason, we do not offer general satisfaction-based refunds: the value of the report is in the reading of it, and a refund mechanism would invite the reader to dismiss what they found uncomfortable as a reason not to pay.

We do refund in these specific cases:

To request a refund in any of these cases, write to hello@take139.com with your order details.

If reading your report surfaces something painful, that is the report doing what it was made to do. Please bring it to a counselor, pastor, or trusted friend. That is not a refund situation.

Section Five

Access codes, pair codes, and account ownership

When you buy, you receive an access code by email. Access codes are single-use for SINGLE and COUPLE tiers, and are tied to whoever first redeems them. CONNECT codes are single-use and bind one specific pair of profiles together.

Your dashboard account is tied to the email address you used at finalize. If you lose access to that email, write to hello@take139.com and we will help you recover it after verifying your identity.

You may not resell, redistribute, or share access codes commercially. They are licensed to you for personal pastoral use.

Section Six

Re-pairing and the orphan-notification email

If you choose to break a current Couples bond and pair with someone new from your dashboard, your previous partner will automatically receive a short, pastoral email letting them know the pairing has been archived. This is not punitive — it is a matter of basic honesty. We will not facilitate quiet, undisclosed re-pairings.

The first five re-pairs on each account are free. After that, additional re-pairs require a Connection Add-On ($10). A 30-day cooldown sits between successive re-pairs.

Section Seven

Intellectual property

The assessments, item bank, scoring methodology, archetype framework, written walkthroughs, illustrations, and all other content on this site are the original work of Dr. Christopher Hilken and are protected by copyright. You may share your own report freely (it's yours), and you may share quotes from the site for the purpose of review or recommendation. You may not copy, republish, or commercially redistribute the assessments, the item bank, or the walkthroughs without prior written permission.

The name "Take 139" and the name "IMAGO" (in the context of this hardwiring profile) are claimed as trademarks.

Section Eight

Acceptable use

Don't submit assessments on someone else's behalf without their knowledge. Don't attempt to break into other people's accounts. Don't use automated tools to harvest item banks or report content. Don't use the service to harass another person.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any account that violates these rules, with a full refund of any unused access codes.

Section Nine

Disclaimers and limits of liability

Take 139 and IMAGO are provided "as is." We make every reasonable effort to keep the service available, the reports accurate to the methodology, and the data safe — but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted uptime, error-free reports, or that any particular insight from a report will apply to your specific situation.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

None of the language in this section is intended to limit our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.

Section Ten

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in any substantive way, we will update the "Last updated" date and email registered users in advance. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect counts as agreement to the new version.

Section Eleven

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by writing to hello@take139.com first will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
